Louay Kamel joins IOTA as a Software Engineer on the permanode team. In this role, Louay will focus on implementing a permanode utilising another of his recent projects: OverDB (a scalable distributed graph / multi-model database engine built on top of ScyllaDB).

Louay lives in Guelph, Ontario Canada and has been in the technology sector for over ten years, with a variety of different skills including coding, supporting, consulting, recording and video-editing.

On joining IOTA

I am honored to have the opportunity to work with such diverse, brilliant minds in the IOTA Foundation. I am confident that IOTA is the first step towards a Utopian future where things communicate, manage and distribute self-healing tasks beyond the internet protocol, in a decentralised manner. I’m pleased to be a part of this technological revolution.

My passion is in parallel programming, consensus algorithms and Distributed systems. At IOTA, I aim to finish the permanode (codename: Chronicle) project, build an extensive list of apps on top of the tangle, work on Bee and learn Rust along the way.

We are very happy to officially announce that Louay Kamel is joining the project. His extensive experience and passion for the project will be an asset to IOTA. Give him a warm welcome!
