French Regulator Issues Red Alert for Investors on Bybit Crypto Exchange
French Securities Regulator Issues Renewed Warning Against Bybit

The French financial regulator has once again issued a caution to crypto exchange Bybit, advising clients to prepare for the possibility that the platform might abruptly stop offering services in France.

In an announcement made on Thursday, the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF) emphasized that Bybit is not registered as a digital asset service provider (DASP), thereby making its operations in France illegal. The AMF has had Bybit on its blacklist since May 20, 2022, due to its unauthorized services.

This recent notice also alludes to possible enforcement actions, reminding investors that the AMF holds the authority under the Monetary and Financial Code to initiate legal proceedings to disable access to the website. Investors are urged to take all necessary precautions to ensure they can still access their assets.

This warning is reminiscent of an earlier alert from Hong Kong’s financial regulator in March when the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) added Bybit to its list of suspicious cryptocurrency exchanges. The SFC also informed the public that Bybit was operating without a license.

Bybit has previously withdrawn from markets in Canada and the United Kingdom, citing intense regulatory scrutiny as the primary reason.

To date, Bybit has not provided any comments regarding the recent warning issued by the AMF.
