Valantis Acquires Staked Hype: A Strategic Move in the Liquid Staking Arena
As of August 19, 2025, decentralized exchange protocol Valantis officially acquired Staked Hype (stHYPE), the second-largest liquid staking token within the Hyperliquid platform. Specific financial details of this acquisition remain undisclosed.
Staked Hype initially debuted on HyperEVM, marking its inception as the premier liquid staking token (LST) on this platform. currently, it boasts approximately $180 million total value locked (TVL), a figure supported by data from its official site.Post-acquisition, operational control including development and scalability of stHYPE will transition to Valantis Labs. Addison Spiegel, originator of Thunderhead – creators behind stHYPE – has been appointed as an advisor for Valantis throughout this process.
Liquid staking represents a fundamental component within HyperliquidS ecosystem. Notably, more than half of the $2.26 billion TVL on Hyperliquid L1 is attributed to liquid staking activities per DeFi tracking resource DeFiLlama.
Previously, Valantis had launched dedicated LST-specific trading pools for both stHYPE and hHYPE which cumulatively drew close to $70 million in TVL and facilitated over $500 million in trading volume flows.
With ambitions set high, valantis anticipates augmenting integration between its DEX offerings and HyperCore to fundamentally bolster a more expansive liquidity network across Hyperliquid’s platforms.
Since its inception earlier in February of this year alone.,HyperEVM has witnessed impressive growth with more than $2 billion tucked away in TVL expanding across nearly one hundred distinct protocols.
