Galaxy Digital Taps Ex-Point72 Executive as New CFO, Michael Novogratz Announces
Galaxy Digital Welcomes New CFO from Point72, Shifts Alex Ioffe to Senior Advisor Role
Galaxy Digital, a leading provider of financial services in the cryptocurrency sector, announces the recruitment of Anthony Paquette as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Paquette assumes his role taking over from Alex Ioffe, who is set to transition into a senior advisor capacity.
Anthony Paquette brings significant financial expertise and experience to Galaxy Digital. Having previously held the position of CFO at Point72, Steve Cohen’s renowned hedge fund, he managed key aspects including global finance operations, treasury functions, and broker relations over his four-year tenure. Prior to this appointment at Point72, his broad career included strategic roles at SoFi and major banking institutions such as JP Morgan Chase and Bank of America.
In an official press release dated December 13th 2024 announcing his appointment, Paquette expressed enthusiasm about joining Galaxy Digital: “Joining Galaxy is an exciting step for me; it’s an institution known globally for its pioneering investments in digital assets along with technological infrastructure advancements. I am keen on further strengthening the already exceptional finance team here and maintaining our leading edge in this rapidly evolving industry.”
Mike Novogratz—the CEO of Toronto-based Galaxy Digital—commended Alex Ioffe for his substantial contributions towards building a strong financial backbone that has poised the company towards prospective listings in U.S markets. As part of strategic growth plans detailed early last year (February 2023), Galyxy has submitted proposals seeking approval from regulatory bodies like the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to relocate its headquarters from Cayman Islands to Delaware aiming for incorporation in Nasdaq listings.
The continued expansion efforts by Galaxy highlight their ongoing commitment not just toward scaling their operational footprint but also solidifying legal and compliance frameworks critical for sustainable growth within digital finance spheres.
