Introducing Masked Authenticated Messaging

IOTA is the first distributed ledger architecture that has no transaction fees and is built for ecosystems such as the Internet of Things or Web 3.0; enabling a future in which devices can securely communicate with and autonomously compensate each other. At its core, IOTA uses a gossip protocol to propagate transactions through the network. This mechanism means that any data with sufficient weight can be dispersed to the opposite side of the cluster efficiently. These transactions can carry value or data sent from a car, a…

However, due to the nature of distributed ledger technology a lot of processes in this world can be changed…

Instant & Feeless — Flash Channels

The goal of the IOTA Foundation is it to build a flourishing Machine Economy, where machines seamlessly interact and transact with each other. With IOTA, we have introduced the first scalable distributed ledger architecture that has no transaction fees and is able to run in the Internet of Things environment. The power of IOTA is in its network, as it scales horizontally with the number of network participants transacting with each other. Over the recent years, Layer-2 solutions (such as Bitcoin’s Lightning Network, and…

Privacy in IOTA

‘Private Transactions’ was an item on IOTA’s development roadmap published a few months ago. This post gives a brief overview of the current situation and the work that I have been doing for IOTA@UCL. Most privacy issues in cryptocurrency are caused by address reuse. Address reuse allows anyone you transact with to find out everyone else you are transacting with (and when, and how much), in addition to how much money you have in total. This is information which businesses as well as ordinary users generally do not want…

Questions to Ask When Building your First Hardware Prototype

What are the exact functions I need? Break down what your features are and how they fit together. You need to have a clear vision of what you are building. The three main things to cover are: What will it do? How will it be powered? Does it need to communicate? These questions inform all of the answers moving forward so make sure you know exactly what you want. Did I read the spec sheets? I mean really read them. You’ll need to make sure that the components you select for your…
