Higher transaction volumes on the Shibarium blockchain will increase the burn rate of the SHIB token, lowering its circulating supply.
ShibaSwap, the decentralized exchange closely tied to the Shiba Inu cryptocurrency, has officially launched on the Shibarium blockchain. Shibarium, an Ethereum layer-2 solution developed by the SHIB token team, now serves as the operational backbone for ShibaSwap.
Developers highlighted that heightened activity on Shibarium will lead to a higher SHIB token burn rate, thus reducing its overall supply. Over the last 24 hours, the value of SHIB has surged by 8.8%, aligning with broader market gains. The CoinDesk 20 Index (CD20), a barometer for the larger cryptocurrency market, has advanced by nearly 7% during the same period.
Users now have the capability to establish new liquidity pools on Shibarium. This functionality enables traders to exchange tokens within the network and earn a portion of the trading fees for supplying liquidity. As of Thursday, ShibaSwap had over $25 million in locked tokens and saw $1.7 million in trading volumes within the past 24 hours, according to available data.
“The more transactions processed via Shibarium blockchain, the more base gas fees will be burned, consequently affecting the overall burn rate of $SHIB,” noted the developers.
Token burns involve the permanent removal of tokens from circulation by sending them to a non-recoverable address.
Every transaction, whether it’s a swap or stake on ShibaSwap, contributes significantly to the growth of its ecosystem. Increased trading volumes result in higher fees for both stakers and liquidity providers, the developers elaborated in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
