Lman Chu, Founder and CEO of Taiwan-based BiiLabs, has been a vocal part of the IOTA Evangelist Network (IEN) since its early days in 2017. Having been deep in technology for more than 20 years, Lman expressed his regrests that he missed out on the internet boom, and then the evolution of social media. When he came across blockchain for the first time, Lman was determined to take the opportunity this time around. He diligently went through the github repositories of more than 1,000 projects to thoroughly evaluate the code, the dynamics of contributors, and finally chose IOTA as the initial foundation for the BiiLabs solutions. The BiiLabs stack has created a middleware layer before adding several solution components on top, allowing future extension to different blockchain protocols, which is just a sound entrepreneurial approach, and provides optionality for their clients.
BiiLabs has created a Blockchain-as-a-Service (BaaS) offering that includes hardware components such as those to measure water and air quality, and connects them to the IOTA Tangle as the immutable ledger. Specific use cases include smart city, mobility, energy & IoT, and digital identity as well as certifications. The BaaS solution allows enterprise customers to innovate around those use cases with a very low initial subscription fee. Given the positioning as a technology service provider, BiiLabs has also been successful in partnering with global professional services firms such as Deloitte and PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Taiwanese specialist companies.
The following illustrates some of the use cases, all of which have been built.
