Welcome Harm van den Brink to the IOTA Foundation
Harm van den Brink can be an entrepreneur and always searching for practical and useful implementations of new and disruptive ideas. He’s got a master’s degree in Information Science from the Radboud University Nijmegen and it has a specialist background in energy, e-mobility and cybersecurity. Within the last few years he’s got been doing work for Enexis (Dutch grid operator) and ElaadNL (a foundation centered on e-mobility).
In his role since it Architect Smart Grids and Electric Vehicles, Van den Brink gained plenty of knowledge about the power and electric mobility domain. Combining this knowledge along with his expertise inside it allows him to build the power (eco)system into the future.
Van den Brink is well known for building the IOTA charge station, a proof idea of a charger for electric vehicles running fully on IOTA, and IOTA only.
On joining IOTA
During the final years I came across that the old approach of delivering energy to homes is (literally) not sustainable. I believe that this must change, and the new solution to do this takes a decentralized, distributed system. Not merely from an energy viewpoint (decentralized energy production like solar and wind), but additionally decentralized (machine 2 machine) IT solutions that may benefit society.
For me the IOTA Foundation brings all this together. Giving the society a permissionless and free distributed ledger to make a sustainable and equal energy system for everyone. The benefits DLTs may bring to our world aren’t fully unravelled yet, but I believe that the proof concepts which are increasingly being created right now are actually promising. I can’t wait to come out of the PoC phase.
The IOTA community can be an awesome community, this inspires me to help keep pushing forward and to search for new opportunities. I’m proud to participate this community, it creates me enthusiastic.

Harm is among the most active developers and activists within the IOTA ecosystem. After dealing with him peripherally through the IOTA Charge Station project and seeing him present IOTA we learned precisely how talented and dedicated he is really.
