Touchpoint Open Builders Program Welcomes Dark Mythos
First Playable and Tradable Fantasy Card Game on the Tangle
Digital collectible card games have been an acceptable addiction for at least 30 years: Wikipedia cites Dragon Ball: Daimaō Fukkatsu, released by Nintendo in 1989, as (one of) the first. In 2017, CryptoPunks and CryptoKitties were the first to take the concept into the world of NFTs; a plethora of other games have since joined them.
The latest to join Touchpoint Open Builders Program is Dark Mythos, a fantasy card game that combines aspects of roleplaying and adventure games, open-world concept video games, and adventure books with graphics that combine AI and human creativity.
Although the gameplay is yet to be finalized, Dark Mythos will give you the opportunity to play as one of five humanoid element-based races. Let's hear more directly from Dark Mythos.
Dark Mythos is a fantasy card game that pays tribute to our favorite fantasy books and card games (like Hearthstone, Magic: The Gathering, Gwent, Legends of Runeterra, Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel, and Eternal). It combines stories, pictures, and gaming to deliver a great experience in a fantasy universe.
As the first fantasy card project in the IOTA ecosystem, Dark Mythos will first launch as a beta version on the Shimmer network. After the game migrates to IOTA for release, new versions will continue to be tested on Shimmer.
Our vision of a short and easy-to-play fantasy card game that also takes you into a great universe of fascinating stories is growing from day to day. Up to now, we’ve formed our team and our first two NFT collection drops have sold out.
The Dark Mythos team has been active in the IOTA community since 2017 and now we want to give something back. We are a group of five individuals – developers, designers, fantasy book authors, and marketing experts – who have already worked together on digital projects over the past 15 years. What connects us is a love for fantasy games and stories as well as the urge to integrate new technologies into existing models.
Currently, the team is working on the first fantasy stories and has released the first version of our explorer, where users can view and filter cards by type, elements, rarity, and foil, as well as see the cards of a specific edition. In the next step, we’ll add a Metamask login so users can view and filter their own cards.

For example, our past prototypes favored an auto battler system; in the current prototype, we're experimenting with a third-party auto battler system, which allows each player to build their deck and make it battle-ready without having to always be online or wait for other players.
We're also analyzing various mechanics that include and combine card roles like melee and ranged, element and item boost, as well as different grid fighting strategies and special slot types. Evaluating the best possible combination of these mechanics will enable us to provide low-level entry for new players as well as a complex long-term strategy game for everyone to enjoy.”
