Andreas Penzkofer is an electrical engineer and physicist, specializing in analytical and numerical methods. He completed his Ph.D. and post-doctoral research in Electrical Engineering at the University of Sheffield, UK, developing models for novel complex electrical machines in large-scale wind turbines. He comes from a physics background, having graduated at the University of Regensburg, Germany, and completed his thesis in particle physics as part of the Stanford Linear Accelerator Centre research group in Boulder, USA.
With a broad-ranging and international career spanning both academia and renewable energy industry, Andreas enjoys working at the intersection of developing new knowledge and its direct application through innovative technological solutions. Bringing with him his expertise in numerical and analytical techniques, he aims to further the understanding of the Tangle’s mechanics and improve its resilience against attacks.
On joining IOTA
“Having spent time intensively engaging with the crypto-landscape I was immediately drawn to IOTA for two reasons. Firstly, I believe its unique approach can overcome key challenges facing blockchain technologies, such as scalability or the rapidly increasing energy demand of blockchain PoW.
